Donations

Hi guys. So I’ve been looking for a car for several months now… ages! It’s really tough to find a good one when you have to bus to every one that you want to check out, too. So today I found one that was perfect: exactly the color, make, and year that I wanted. I went to check it out and the owners were friendly, and everything with the title was in order. The owners told me that they were wanting cash only– I would have bought it right then, but I didn’t have 3.5k in cash on me. Because it was Sunday, it meant that I would have to wait until Monday to go to the bank. The owners mentioned that some other people had looked at it, and that one more person was coming to look at it later, too, but whoever gave them cash for it first would get it. I planned to get to the bank right when it opened to make a withdrawal, then meet them right after to buy it.

So then I get a phone call several hours later, with some bad news from the owners. A person had come by and paid them in cash, so the car was gone.

I was devastated at this. I’d been searching for so freaking long and had gone through so much trouble to find a car, and then this. I bawled my eyes out for hours.

Then it’s 10:30 and I’m still feeling just sick-to-my-stomach awful about all of it– I’m thinking about the world working in such a way that I had this opportunity flashed in my face and then snatched away, about how it’s all just “so unfair” and how so very little ever works out in the way you’re hoping, bla bla bla lamentations.

I’m still sobbing when I hear the little blip of my mail notification: “donation received from…”

A wonderful person had decided right then to donate a large sum. Oi, I’m getting all weepy just typing this! It just– it restored my ehh, my faith in the universe, you could say. Someone liked my silly little creations enough to give me money. So many of you have liked them enough to give me money! That kind of generosity– ahhhchh, it makes me feel so special, it really does. Going through a difficult ordeal can make a person forget that the world, for the most part, does good things to you. So ANYWAY, enough teary blabbing. In short: Thank you all for being so awesome. I love you guys! You and your attention paid to this small corner of the internet are a bright little center for me when I’m feeling low. Thank you thank you thank you. :)

P.S. I’m planning to do the stair caps for the Liam and Bode sets (I haven’t forgotten!), and I’m also working on this little set here:

You are more than generous with your time and skill, so a little financial support is well-deserved. Huge kudos to the anonymous donor! :)

As for the car, “pay-me-in-cash-now” and “other-people-have-come-by-to-see-it” are the oldest lines in the book. That kind of urgency and desperation from the seller usually raises a red flag for me, so you may have dodged quite a bullet there.

As upsetting as not getting the car now may have been for you, imagine the tears you would have shed if it turned out that you bought a $3500 lemon!

So, chin up, lovely. The way these things work, you’ll most likely end up finding something much, much better. :)

Wow. This makes me want to reinstall Sims2. (I cannot Wait till you decide the time is right for Sims3 stuff. I looooove your stuff!!)

And I agree, what a wonderful donation!!

Good luck with the car situation. That’s a hard one, but yes .. stick it out and wait for a good deal!

You will find the right car, it is a pain going without transportation, so I completely understand how you feel – I hope that the public transport is OK where you are so you can at least get back and forth to school/work, and to do stuff like buy groceries.

We really don’t mind donating to your site, you always have wonderful things, and you try really hard to listen to what people are interested in terms of CC – the days you have new downloads are always a treat for me because no only do I get to download it for my own game, I get to put on my finds site for everyone else to download to. Thanks for what you do for the community Adele, Good luck with the care

sorry about the car adele but maybe it was luck you didn’t get it, maybe there is something wrong with it and that other person is now paying more money to fix things. You will find a better one :)
The new set looks awesome btw :D

    greetings

Thanks, guys! I really feel a ton better about it. I’m going to be going to a dealership next, probably. Way tired of searching for private party sellers. :P

Within the last couple weeks, I reinstalled the Sims 2 [it's been a couple years since I played before] & have been all over looking for CC. Generally, I don’t download much in the way of items, they generally make me nervous. Looking at your work though, there’s no way I can pass it all up. You make absolutely gorgeous creations. I truly wish I had a job so I could justify donating to you because I can only imagine the work that goes into all of this. It shows & I hope that you continue to make these additions to the Sims community.

As for the car situation, as ShawnKenobi said, you may be lucky to have not gotten the car. I’ve seen some really trustworthy looking people try to sell a lemon. No matter what though, things will work out. They always do, even if it takes a while.

    Good luck to you!
    ♥Rachel.

Hey guys– just a little update. I bought a car soon after this– like 3 days after, actually! And it’s perfect. This always happens to me, honestly– I’ll have my heart set on something, it doesn’t work out and I’m devastated, then something way better comes along. I guess I should learn to be patient, eh? :P

ANYWAY, I love you guys! Thanks for the support!

hi Adele, I am happy to hear that you bought a car. I thought it was so weird that the same thing happened to me when i was buying a new car last year. My mom had allowed me to purchase a 2008 camry in her name and to suprise she wrecked her car and totalled it out a couple of months later…So, my mom then proceeds to take the Camry from me because she cannot finance anpther car in her name so i was stuck without one for almost 5 months and there are not any other means of transportation around here where I live in the sticks!

So I finally save some money for a down payment and find the perfect car for me and when i go to fill out the papers and pay the money down the car was just sold to a another person…I was so sad but better things happened soon after and I found a car I had always wanted and I have been driving it for almost a year now. It is noce to hear that good things happened to good people! I love your creations and look forward to seeing more of your work! Thanks so much!

Adele u r LUCKY. My friend went through a similar situation except she actually got the “car” and it died on her within the month. That-that-that- “AAARGH!” sold it to her for about £12,500 (something near that figure). And within 2-3 weeks she was having problems with it. So in many ways u are lucky. And I feel sorry for the poor fool who actually bought that car. tsk tsk. Good luck on the next CC. It looks fab. =]

@ CutenessB: Isn’t it funny how that happens?? My older sister and her fiancé were just trying to buy a house– they found one that she had fallen in love with, everything was in order and ready to go, and then someone swooped in and bid the asking price of it, so they were out of luck. She was super upset, but then almost IMMEDIATELY after, they find another house that is much better priced, and a much more perfect fit for them, and they manage to get it! I guess we should learn not to freak out over things and just learn to wait, eh? (Like I’ll ever be able to do that…) :D

@ Shamma; Ach, that’s too bad!! That was my biggest fear after finally getting mine– that it would start having problems. But, *knocks on wood*, so far, so good. What type of car was it?

Aaaand, yes: the next CC. I really need to just finish that up and upload it… :P
